The Board of Education is the official policy-making body of the School District. Your Board consists of five members: residents elected at large by District voters to three-year unpaid terms of office. The first meeting in July is the annual organizational meeting, at which time the Board elects its President and Vice-President. The President presides at all Board Meetings.

Board Meetings are generally held twice a month on Tuesday evenings in the High School Library Media Center at 7:30 P.M. unless otherwise posted. Meetings may be held on other days as the need arises. Agendas are available to the public at meetings, at the District Office and on the school’s website (pleasantvilleschools.com) one day prior to the meeting date.
Regularly joining Board members are the Superintendent of Schools, the District Clerk and the Assistant Superintendent for Business. Others may be invited to sit with the Board while making a presentation, providing information or during a work session.
Each meeting provides one opportunity when District residents may comment to the Board. This is called "Recognition of the Audience." Those who wish to address the Board are requested to come to the podium and state their name and address for the record.
All meetings are held in public for the audience to observe. An executive session may be held before, during or after a public meeting to discuss matters involving personnel, litigation, negotiations, or other matters as allowed under the Open Meetings Law. Attendance at these sessions is limited to Board members and any other person whose presence the Board deems necessary for the discussion. All official business, however, is enacted in public session.
The District posts Board of Education meetings, school events, and other related programs to the Pleasantville Schools YouTube channel.
