Remote Instruction Day

Remote Instruction Plans

A remote instruction day may be implemented when circumstances make in-person learning unsafe or impractical. These circumstances may include, but are not limited to, extraordinary adverse weather conditions, impairment of heating or essential building systems, interruption of water supply, shortage of fuel, structural damage to a school facility, or a communicable disease outbreak.

When such conditions arise, the District may determine that it is in the best interest of students and staff to remain in session through remote instruction rather than close schools entirely. In these cases, instruction will continue in a virtual format to ensure continuity of learning while prioritizing the health, safety, and well-being of our school community.

    • Special remote schedules at each building will begin two hours late to ensure all classes run with specific guidelines for staff, students, and families to follow.
    • Student attendance will be taken.
    • Related service providers such as psychologists, speech pathologists, OTs and counselors will maintain their schedule/appointments to the extent possible.
    • All other staff such as administrators, nurses, and office personnel will be available via email.
    • The letter day would remain - we would not push it back a day.
    • Depending on the rationale for the remote instruction day, after school activities will likely be cancelled.
    • If you are experiencing technical difficulties or are in need of additional support with school-related software (such as Microsoft, ClassLink, etc.), please email the Help Desk at helpdesk@pleasantvilleschools.org or submit a tech help request via this link.
  • Instruction will include a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work.  Parents will receive a link to a live morning meeting on Zoom through ClassDojo.  Following the morning meeting students will be provided with asynchronous work to complete.

  • Remote instruction will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Students should log into their class Seesaw page prior to 10:30 a.m. to see their schedule for the day which is available under activities. Each class will have a morning meeting with their teacher at 10:30 a.m. on Zoom.

Instruction will include a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction in ELA, Math, and Related Arts. In the event a teacher cannot teach remotely, students should look for asynchronous work within their Seesaw page.

  • Remote instruction will follow the MS Two-Hour Delay schedule. First period begins at 10:03 a.m. Students are expected to follow their regular schedule and check Schoology each period. Within Schoology, students will find a link for virtual instruction via Microsoft Teams along with resources for learning. In the event a teacher cannot teach remotely, students should access the “remote day” folder within Schoology that will contain plans/resources for the period.

  • Remote instruction will follow the PHS Two-Hour Delay schedule. First period begins at 10:10 a.m.
