If you have a child between the ages of 3 and 21 that you have reason to suspect may be in need of special education services, you have the right to refer your child to the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE; for children age 3 until age 5) or the Committee on Special Education (CSE; for children age 5 to age 21). For preschool-aged children, you may contact the District's CPSE Coordinator, Dr. Rachael Goldrich, and for school-aged children, you may contact the Director of Special Education, Dr. Rukmini Bhalla.

The federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents/guardians and students over the age of 18 certain rights with respect to the student's education records, which are considered confidential information. One exception involves Directory Information, which is considered neutral or positive information and may be released without written consent to publicize school activities or student achievement, among other things. The District has designated the following items as Directory Information: student's name; grade level; participation in officially recognized school activities and sports; height and weight of members of athletic teams; dates of attendance; awards/honors received; photographs/videos of students involved in school activities/events; voiceprint; streaming video.
A parent/guardian who does not want his/her child's Directory Information released must complete a FERPA Opt-Out Form and return it to the main office of the child's school. The opt-out is valid for one school year only.

In accordance with the federal Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment to the No Child Left Behind Act and the District's policy on student privacy, parents/guardians and students over the age of 18 have the right to opt out of certain activities, including the disclosure of student information for the purposed of military recruitment.

To opt out of sharing your High School student's information with military recruiters, complete the Military Recruitment Opt-Out Form and return it to the Main Office of the High School.
